Why are they called five pound brownies? Is it because they are so rich and dense that a pan of them weighs 5 lbs, or is it because eating them will cause you to gain 5 lbs? This, you will have to find out for yourself. Either way, they are completely worth it!

Ingredients
- 1 Stick butter melted
- 1 C granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 C all-purpose flour I used Bobs Red Mill
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 C unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 C dark chocolate chips melted, I used Ghirardelli 60% cocoa
- Chocolate chip cookie dough ready made from the store, or use my recipe from the blog.
Servings:
Instructions
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a saucepan, melt the butter, just until melted, not too hot. Add the sugar and mix until it starts to dissolve.
- Add vanilla and eggs, whisk until well combined.
- Sift eh flour, baking soda, cocoa and salt and add to the saucepan with the wet ingredients. Mix well.
- In a microwave, melt the chocolate chips, and add to the brownie mixture and sitr completely.
- Pour mixture into a parchment lined or greased 9X9" baking dish. Spread evenly. Break up about 1 cup of chocolate chip cookie dough into teaspoon sized pieces and randomly drop all over the top of the brownies, not to completely cover them.
- Bake 40-45 minutes. Don't over bake.
