This is a childhood favorite for me.

Red Hot candies have been around forever, and my Grandma tried to make them healthy with this apple dessert.

It’s nothing fancy, it’s easy to make and it reminds me of her…which is worth it by itself. 🙂

I love the flavor of cinnamon, both kinds! Give me Hot Tamales AND Cinnamon Rolls.

This recipe is the hot kind of cinnamon, made with those tiny Red Hot candies from when we were kids.

My Grandma used to make this for us often. I used to beg her to make it for me.

So, naturally, I made it for my kids too.

It’s a fast, easy dessert to make and only requires two inexpensive ingredients, apples and Red Hots.

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Peel and core apples, then cut them in half. Place apples in a 9X13 baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle red hots over apples, then add the water.
  4. Bake for 15 mins at a time, flipping every 15 minutes for a total of 60 minutes. Apples should be soft and easily pierced with a fork. If they need additional time, bake 10 more minutes.
  5. Remove them from the oven and cool. Store in the refrigerator.
